Russia. Government plans to reimburse logistics costs of agrarians

07.06.2017

The Ministry of Agriculture and Russian Export Center (REC) are developing a new mechanism to support domestic agricultural producers - it is expected that they will reimburse up to 80% of railroad transportation costs. The Agrarian Minister did not specify possible amount and mechanism of compensation. The list of goods that can be subsidized for transportation has not been approved yet.

Last winter the Ministry of Agriculture offered to reduce railway tariffs for grain transportation to increase export rates. Press service of Russian railways reported that the company supported this initiative.

The Agrarian Ministry offers to support agricultural export railroad deliveries in two directions - to distant Russian regions, as well as to Asian countries, UkrAgroConsult informs. This should increase cargo turnover between central and southern regions of the country with Siberia and the Far East. Previously, it was repeatedly stated about an intention to enter markets of Asian countries and mechanisms for obtaining logistics discounts should contribute to this.
