Russia. Government to make subsidization of grain deliveries for exports permanent

Russian Ministry of Agriculture intends to transfer subsidies of railroad grain supply for exports to a permanent basis. The current subsidy program expires on July 01, 2018, but the agency intends to prolong it, reports UkrAgroConsult.

"We believe that exports of grain surplus from Russia are more profitable than purchases to the intervention fund, and it is also beneficial for Russian Railways", - said the head of department, Alexander Tkachev. At the same time, he added that Russia could return to grain purchases to the state fund any time.

In January, Tkachev criticized grain interventions, calling them "harmful mechanism". He explained that the state did not have enough storage capacities for purchased grain. At the same time, the minister admitted that this mechanism could be preserved in case of an acute drop in grain prices in some regions.
