Russia has increased export of agricultural products by 4% in 2016

Russia in 2016 exported agricultural products to $17 billion, 4% more than in 2015.

This was announced by the Minister of agriculture of the Russian Federation Alexander Tkachev in an interview to "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" published on Monday. Exports increased due to the expansion of supply of grain, vegetable oil, fish.

Minister of agriculture participated in the meeting of Ministers of agriculture of G20, which was held in Berlin. The meeting was held within the international exhibition "Green week" in which Russia does not participate for the second year in a row.

"Reduction of the Russian presence at exhibitions such as "Green week," in the first place to explain the situation that has arisen due to the imposition of sanctions. But this does not mean that we have ceased to export its products or it has become uninteresting to consumers in other countries, the Minister said. — Continue to supply Germany grains, including wheat, corn, buckwheat, though not in such quantities as, say, the middle East. Also export chocolate and confectionery products, beans, peas and other goods."

According to him, today Russia is actively expanding the markets of agricultural products. Among our largest trade partners were China, Turkey, Egypt and North Africa.

Alexander Tkachev also said that the Declaration of the summit of agriculture Ministers of the G20 supported Russia's proposal on limiting the use of antibiotics in veterinary medicine.

"Russia has always advocated the responsible and rational use of antibiotics in livestock farming. Often antibiotics are used as growth promoters, to which we have repeatedly drawn the attention of our foreign colleagues. Now the task of the G20 to strengthen the control and to take measures to curb the practice", — said the head of the Ministry of agriculture.
