Russia has introduced temporary restrictions on the import of animals from Colombia

The Rosselkhoznadzor since July 5 has introduced temporary restrictions on import of live animals and animal products from Colombia because of foot and mouth disease

The indication published on the Agency's website. "The Federal service for veterinary and phytosanitary surveillance informs that in connection with the appearance in Colombia of the outbreak of foot and mouth disease virus (Foot and Mouth Disease virus, serotype O) with 5 July 2017 has imposed temporary restrictions on imports from the entire territory of Colombia," the document reads.

Restrictions relate in particular FMD-susceptible animals, and have not undergone a heat treatment that guarantees the destruction of the virus, raw meat and meat products, milk and dairy products.

In addition, prohibited the importation of hides, skins and trophies, not processed by technology that guarantees the destruction of the virus, and equipment for the maintenance of FMD-susceptible animals, their slaughter and processing that were in use.

At the same time imposed temporary restrictions on transit of the Russian Federation of live animals from Colombia, are susceptible to FMD.
