Russia has reduced imports of dairy products

Import of dairy products excluding dairy products to Russia, according to preliminary results of 11 months of 2016 has made 217,3 thousand tons (in the amount of 135,3 USD million), Is 9.5% below the volumes in 2015 and 22.1% less than the amount in 2014, which is 9.5% below the volumes in 2015 and 22.1% less than the amount in 2014

In 2015, the decline in import volumes in the first 11 months amounted to 14%. By the end of 2016 the expected volume of import deliveries of dairy products may be 7% lower than in 2015, and the absolute volume will be about 237,8 thousand tons.

The contraction in imports of dairy products contributes to increase production in Russia, as this category of products remains relatively stable demand, even if the overall reduction in the consumption of dairy products.

The main external supplier of dairy products in Russia is the Republic of Belarus, provided in 2013, 77% of total imports in 2015 and 97% in the first 11 months of 2016 – 94%. The supply of dairy products from Belarus decreased according to preliminary results of 11 months of 12.5% (imported 203,2 thousand tons).

After the introduction of Russia's special economic measures against a number of countries with the Russian market took dairy products from Finland, Estonia, Poland, France and other countries, providing up to 15% of imports.
