Russia increased rapeseed exports in September

Russia exported 7.6 KMT of rapeseed in September 2016, up 0.8 KMT (11.8%) month-on-month and up 1.4 KMT (22.6%) year-on-year, reports UkrAgroConsult. In total, 19.7 KMT of rapeseed was supplied to foreign markets during the first three months of MY 2016/17 (July-September) against 6.3 KMT a year ago.

The dynamics of the season’s first three months suggests that this season will show generally higher performance than MY 2015/16, when rapeseed exports plummeted. The more so as UkrAgroConsult expects a somewhat greater potential for this in the current season of 2016/17 than last year, taking into account the rapeseed crop forecast at 1200 KMT.

Like a year ago, the range of export destinations is not very wide. In the new season of 2016/17, rapeseed was only supplied to four countries. Remarkably, while Turkey, China, and Mongolia are importers of Russian rapeseed since long ago, Iran not only renewed rapeseed deliveries but also became the top importer based on the three months’ results.
