Russia increased the import of palm oil from Indonesia by 33%

"Russia occupies one of leading places on the import of palm oil from Indonesia. The purchases of oil increased by 33% last year", - said Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia in the Russian Federation Mr. Wahid Supriadi at the business forum "Russia-Indonesia: cooperation in the field of palm oil", reports the correspondent of The DairyNews.

During the event, it was repeatedly noted that the supplies are growing from year to year.

"Russia buys palm oil in the amount of $ 700 million per year. Major Indonesian companies continue to develop the supply of palm oil to Russia. The volume of trade and investment between Russia and Indonesia is increasing, it indicates a strengthening of cooperation between the two countries",- said in his speech the Minister of trade of the Republic of Indonesia Enggartiasto Lukita.

The Minister of trade of Indonesia also stressed that "at times there are contradictions about the benefits and harms of the products between the producers of other vegetable oils and palm oil, but the negotiations on the regulation of these contradictions are being held".

It has to be noted that in January – April 2017 the import of palm oil into Russia fell by 9.7% relative to the volume of the corresponding period of 2016 and has made 265.4 thousand tons.
