Russia is increasing the production of livestock and poultry

With the beginning of the year, Russian farmers increased production of livestock and poultry for slaughter by 3.1%

The Ministry of agriculture of Russia for 5 months of 2017, the production of livestock and poultry for slaughter in live weight in farms of all categories amounted to 5.4 million tons, which is 3.1% more than in the corresponding period last year.

Production of pigs for slaughter in live weight Ministry of agriculture increased by 4.1%, poultry by 4.1%. At the same time, the production of cattle for slaughter in live weight decreased by 1%, sheep and goats – 1%.

Egg production in farms of all categories amounted to 18.2 billion units, which is 2.4% more than in the corresponding period of 2016.

On 1 June 2017 the number of cattle in farms of all categories amounted to 19.7 million head or 98,6% on the corresponding period of 2016, including cows and 8.4 million heads or to 98.6%. The number of pigs amounted to 23.4 million heads (+1%), sheep and goat – heads 27.1 million (-0,8%), birds in agricultural – 465,2 million (+5,9%).
