10.09.2018

To replace import of milk Russia needs to increase its production by 20-25%, said Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Gordeev.

"For a number of products like poultry meat, pork we are coming to full self-sufficiency. There is quite a large reserve for milk, we must grow by 20-25% per year to completely replace the import that comes to our country", A. Gordeev told reporters in Kaluga region on Friday.

"But we also set the task to develop export", he added.

The Deputy Prime Minister believes that the dairy market needs fine-tuning. "It must, first of all, be in the fact that we have learned to build a fair relationship between producers of raw materials and processors, - he said. - In this case, this project (the project of the Vietnamese TH Milk - IF) solves this problem, because everything is in one hand - both production and processing".

As reported, on Friday, the Vietnamese TH Milk began construction of a dairy plant in Special economic zone Kaluga. Investments in the enterprise will amount to 6.7 billion rubles.

According to A. Gordeev, the project, which the Vietnamese TH Milk is implementing in Kaluga region, is aimed not only at saturation of the domestic market, but also at export.

As stated earlier, the Minister of agriculture Dmitry Patrushev, Russia needs 6-8 years to have full self-sufficiency in milk.

In accordance with the doctrine of food security, the share of domestic milk in the Russian market should be 90%. In 2017 it amounted to 84.1%.

According to the forecast of the Ministry of agriculture, milk production in 2018 will increase by 2% compared to last year. In 2017 it amounted to 31.1 million tons.
