Russia. One more buckwheat mill to be launched


Mayskoye agricultural company (Altai region) is going to launch an own buckwheat groats mill in April 2018. Its construction was started in May 2017.

The total amount of investments into the project is estimated at RUB 75-80 Ml. This includes the construction of approach ways and the purchase of new loaders and containers.

The future groats mill will be capable of producing 45 MT of the finished product a day. The facility is expected to be provided with own raw material to 40-50%. Buckwheat plantings in Mayskoye total some 4.5 Th ha. However, the grower does not intend to expand their area considerably. He is planning to purchase the rest of necessary buckwheat from external sources, reports UkrAgroConsult.

The production of groats products in Altai region develops rapidly in 2017, much faster than the Russian average. Overall, a 9% larger volume of groats was produced in Russia in the 11 months of 2017 than at the same time a year ago (1318.5 KMT). At the same time, buckwheat groats production increased 24% to 431.9 KMT in view of a rise in the Russian buckwheat crop.
