Russia. Planting of spring grain crops lags behind last year


According to the Ag Ministry of Russia, 4 Ml ha of winter cereals were fertilized in the country by March 30, 2018 out of their planted area of 17.1 Ml ha (23.5%).  By contrast, 7.5 Ml ha was fertilized in 2017.  

By the above-mentioned date, Russian farmers sowed a total 286.8 Th ha to spring crops, i.e. 0.5% of the projected 53.37 Ml ha. They already planted as much as 823.5 Th ha of spring crops at the same time last year, reports UkrAgroConsult.

This includes 223 Th ha of spring cereals, i.e. 0.7% of their projected area of 31.02 Ml ha, against 613.2 Th ha planted by the same date a year ago.
