Russia produced a record 5.75 million tons of beet sugar


Sugar factories of Russia on 9 January produced a record 5.75 million tons of beet sugar, 600 000 tonnes more than in the same period last year, according to Soyuzrossakhar

According to soyuzrossakhar, currently the processing of sugar beet continue to 25 sugar mills. Last year at this time worked only six plants. Given the volume of harvested raw materials, some factories will run until mid-February, experts predict.

According to Rosstat, Russia in 2016 gathered 48.3 million tonnes of sugar beet, up from 39 million tons in 2015.

The experts of the Institute for agricultural market studies (IKAR) estimated the production of beet sugar at the end of the beet campaign of 6 million tons, which will be an absolute record in the history of the country. In the previous year, its production amounted to 5.19 million tonnes.
