Russia. Situation in the milk powder market is stable


In the Russian Federation, there is a steady increase in the production of commercial milk and, as a consequence, the products of its processing. In 2017 milk production in agricultural organizations and peasant (farm) holdings increased by 4.7% up to 18.1 million tons.

In order to preserve the achieved results and continue development, there are being implemented state support measures, aimed not only at the development of dairy farming, but also at the construction, reconstruction and modernization of enterprises for the processing of raw milk, which allows to  implement a full cycle of processing from raw milk to finished products.

According to Rosstat, in 2017 the production of powdered dairy products (whole milk powder, skim milk and whey) in Russia increased by 25% to 284.4 thousand tons. In the first half of 2018, the growth of commercial milk production continued.

In July 2018, the average prices of industrial producers for powdered dairy products were lower than last year: for skim milk powder - by 8.7% (in 2018 – 129.1 thousand rubles/ton, in 2017 – 135.5 thousand rubles/ton), for powdered whey – by 17.1% (in 2018 – 43.5 thousand rubles/ton, in 2017 – 52.2 thousand rubles/ton).

According to the operational data of the System of monitoring and forecasting of food security of the Russian Federation, the weighted average price of agricultural producers for raw milk in the Russian Federation on September 6, 2018 was 21.38 rubles/kg, which is lower by 2.18 rubles/kg for the same period last year.

Currently, the situation in the market of powdered dairy products is stable, no negative changes are observed. The Ministry of agriculture of Russia assists in the organization of interaction between producers and consumers of powdered dairy products on the basis of direct supplies, reports The DairyNews citing the Ministry of agriculture.
