Russia. Solnechnye Produkty ready to meet new trans-fat content standards

Solnechnye Produkty Holding, a major player in the Russian fat-and-oil market, is ready to fully switch to non-transfat receipts from January 1, 2018, in line with new requirements of the Customs Union technical guidelines for fat-and-oil production.

At the same time, the Holding’s main facility – Saratov Fat Plant (SFP) – has been releasing trans-isomer-free products at customer’s option for a few years now. At the moment, SFP is ready to fully switch to non-transfat receipts. So, from January 1, all of the plant’s products will be manufactured in line with the technical guideline requirements, i.e. with a minimized content of transfats.

The transfat content in fat-and-oil products in Russia will be limited to 2% from January 2018. This level meets the WHO recommendations and is applied in many countries of the world. As of now, the content of transfats in the fat phase may not exceed 20%.
