Russia. Soybean meal exports at a four-season low

Soybean meal exports from Russia totaled 33.6 KMT in December 2016 against 30.3 KMT a month earlier and 35.3 KMT in December 2015, reports UkrAgroConsult.

106.9 KMT was shipped abroad during the four months of the current season 2016/17, or almost 20% less than at the same time last season (133 KMT). As a reminder, apart from the soybean crop drop in 2016, Russia cut soybean meal supply in foreign markets in favor of domestic consumption.

In the current season 2016/17 the soybean meal export market features not only fewer outlets but also a drop in their capacity. The exceptions are Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Germany, which slightly increased purchases of Russian soybean meal. Overall, the market remains oriented to European consumers. As before, the top importers are Norway (19%), Poland (18%) and Norway (16%).
