Russia started corn season with record high pace

New corn season began with record pace in Russia, informs UkrAgroConsult. In the first month of 2016/17 Russia exported 406.7 KMT of corn, which was 29% more than the previous maximum in September 2015/16 MY (314.2 KMT).

It was expected that EU will remain among the largest importers of Russian corn, which took 27% of September corn exports. Though, the largest volume was shipped to South Korea (112 KMT).

According to UkrAgroConsult, active shipments were also seen to Iran – 74 KMT against 193.7 KMT over the whole previous season. Among the key importers remains Turkey, though buying twice as less than in September 2015.

At the beginning of 2016/17 Russia shipped corn to its traditional markets – Syria, Lebanon, Georgia and Azerbaijan.

Considering the expectations of record corn harvest this year, UkrAgroConsult forecasts growth of Russian corn export potential by 6-8% in 2016/17.
