31.03.2017

Unusually warm weather was seen in the North-Western, Central federal districts and most of the Volga federal district from March 11-20, when the average air temperature exceeded its normal values by 3-5°C. Air temperatures peaked at +6…+8°. Precipitation amounted to 6-10 mm over the ten days, up to 15-20 mm in the south-west of the Central federal district and the west of the North-Western district.

Growth of winter cereals was seen in south-westernmost areas of the Central federal district, where the soil has thawed to its full depth. Some farmers in Belgorod region started planting early cool-season crops. In the rest of areas, winter cereals were covered with snow (5-10 cm, up to 40 cm) throughout the ten-day period. The conditions were fair for winter crops to complete dormancy, reports UkrAgroConsult.

The average daily temperature was 2-5°C above normal. Growth of winter cereals was reported in southern parts of the Southern and North-Caucasian federal districts. The soil has thawed to its full depth in northern parts of Rostov, Volgograd and Astrakhan regions; winter crops have started growing there. The weather conditions were favorable for growth and development of winter crops. Crops are well-provided with moisture.
