Russia. Weather influence and winter crops conditions

Following a temperature increase, snow cover melted in the Central black-earth regions and in the south of the Volga federal district from November 7-10. Day-time air temperatures grew to +6+8° (to +10…+13° in the southernmost areas), it was +2…5° at night, and the average daily temperature was 2-4° above normal. From November 1-10, the above territory saw precipitation in the form of snow and sleet, rain also fell in the south.

Ice rainfalls seen in some central regions have not yet affected the state of winter crops, reports UkrAgroConsult. An adverse impact is possible in areas where snow cover has left the fields due to thaw. Farmers are concerned about further precipitation with falling temperatures that may lead to the formation of ice crust in fields.

Plants are mostly in good condition and have enough moisture available. Farmers continued sowing winter cereals. The harvest of sunseed and corn was drawing to an end. Winter cereals mainly had fair conditions to begin dormancy.
