Russia will limit the import of meat from Brazil

Rosselkhoznadzor from December 1, restricts the import of meat from Brazil, said the official representative of Department Julia Melano. The reason for the restrictions was the discovery of prohibited stimulants of muscle growth in meat animals.

"Rosselkhoznadzor is compelled to note that, according to laboratory investigations, in coming to Russia from Brazil livestock production in 2017 was again detected banned growth promoters. The Agency does not exclude that the inability to fulfil previous commitments could lead to serious structural and staff changes in Brazil that affected the Ministry of agriculture, livestock and supply of Brazil," — said in a few words.

She noted that the Rosselkhoznadzor on November 16, sent to the Ministry of agriculture of Brazil offer to hold talks, but has not yet received a response.

"Given the seriousness of the situation, the Rosselkhoznadzor has to take urgent measures to protect Russian consumers and the domestic food market and to introduce from 1 December this year temporary restrictions on supplies to Russia from Brazil all pork products and products derived from cattle," — said the representative office.
