Russia. Winter crops conditions

At the end of September winter crops in the major part of the country were at different stages of development, depending on sowing terms – from emergence to tillering. Conditions and soil moisture stocks were mainly satisfactory. Warmth was insufficient for growth and development of winter crops.

Last week rains in the major part of Southern federal district and in the West of Stavropol district were frequent and heavy (35-45 mm, in some places – 50 mm and more), so harvesting conditions were not favorable here.

In the North of Southern federal distict winter crops continued to form foliar apparatus and entered tillering stage. Crops condition and soil moisture stocks were good here. In the eastern part of Stavropol district as well as in the Republic of Kalmykia soil moisture stocks remain low due to lack of precipitations throughout September.
