Russia’s SovEcon sees huge grain crop


Russia’s SovEcon agriculture consultancy said on Thursday it had upgraded its forecast for Russia’s 2016 grain crop to 115.3 million tonnes from a previously expected level of 108.8 million tonnes.

Its estimate for the 2016 wheat crop was raised to a record 71.3 million tonnes from 66.1 million tonnes, SovEcon added in a note.

In 2015 the wheat crop was about 61 million tonnes.
