Russian barley exports hit a high


Russia exports barley at a record pace in the current 2017/18 season, reports UkrAgroConsult. 489.4 KMT of barley was shipped from the country in November 2017, or 87% more than in November 2016.

Russia supplied over 3 MMT of barley to foreign markets during the first five months of the season, or 78% more than at the same time last marketing year (1.69 MMT). So, Russian barley exports hit a record high for this period.

Exporters stepped up deliveries of Russian barley to the majority of its end markets. So, 5% more barley was exported to Saudi Arabia at the time than for the whole last marketing year (1295 KMT).

The most substantial increases are registered in exports to the markets of Iran and Turkey. Exports to Turkey almost tripled from last season.

According to UkrAgroConsult’s estimates, Russian barley exports may exceed 5 MMT in the 2017/18 season.
