Russian barley exports hitting new highs


Russia exported more than 507 KMT of barley in December 2017 that is up 355% from December 2016 (143 KMT). Russian barley exports in the first half of 2017/18 totaled more than 3.5 MMT. This was up 92% on the year and a record high for this time of the season, reports UkrAgroConsult.

The rise in barley exports involved all the main end markets. In the first half of the marketing year, Saudi Arabia already purchased as much as 1.38 MMT that is up 12% from last season’s total. At the time, Russian barley exports to Jordan were up 24% year-on-year at 257 KMT, while shipments to Qatar gained 287% to hit 83 KMT.

Taking into account preliminary data on January-February 2018 deliveries, Russian barley exports to the markets of Iran and Turley have reached record indicators.
