Russian corn exports down 2%

18.06.2018

Russia exported 4.1 million tonnes of corn in the first eight months of 2017-18, 2% less than in the same period in 2016-17, UkrAgroConsult reported.

Russian corn exports decreased 11% in April 2018 compared to the previous month. However, the April total was twice as high as corn exports in April 2017, UkAgroConsult said.

The top importer of Russian corn in 2017-18 is Turkey, which has brought in 1.5 million tonnes in the first eight months of this marketing year, UkAgroConsult said.

It said the near record exports are occurring despite a noticeable decline in Russian corn production in 2017.

In 2016-17, Russia exported a record 5.65 million tonnes of corn.

UkrAgroConsult forecasts that Russia’s corn exports will decline in 2018-19 due to lower production.
