
Russian operator launches railway service from Europe to China

Russian container carrier operator “Transcontainer” and GEFCO company launched a new multimodal container service from Europe to China. According to the announcement, the first container train on the route Duisburg-Rotterdam-Riga-Posin-Iletsk1-Dostyk-Kashgar station left Riga on May 10. The train consists of 52 forty-foot containers with equipment for textile industry. As expected, the train will be on the road for 12-14 days, total length of the railway route is 7.4 thousand kilometers.
The second train departure is scheduled for the period May 15-20. In future, the service can function once a week. The project was implemented in cooperation with railway administrations of Latvia, Kazakhstan and China, reports UkrAgroConsult.
