Russian rapeseed exports hit a three-year high since the beginning of 2017/18 season

The beginning of the new 2017/18 season in Russia’s rapeseed export market is more active than in the previous two seasons, reports UkrAgroConsult. The reason is good yields. So, 16.2 KMT of rapeseed was exported in August 2017, or more than twice as much as at the same time last year (6.8 KMT). Exports in the first two months of MY 2017/18 also hit a three-year high. So, their total grew to 18.1 KMT against 12.1 KMT a year ago.

Russian rapeseed exports feature poor diversification of end markets, but the first two months of the new 2017/18 season witnessed significant changes. For instance, Romania, having imported Russian rapeseed for the first time, topped the ranking of its buyers with an export share of 28%. Bangladesh resumed rapeseed purchases from Russia and even outpaced the 2016/17 leader China. In addition, the first parcels of Russian rapeseed were shipped to Nepal.
