Russian State Statistics Service published a sunseed crop forecast

According to calculations of the Russian State Statistics Service, the 2017 sunseed crop amounted to 9.5 MMT in net weight that is 13.3% below the 2016 record (11 MMT). Nonetheless, as in the case of corn, the figures will likely be adjusted later: according to the Ag Ministry, sunseed was only harvested from 86.6% of its area by December 18, and the harvest still continued in December.

Previously, analysts predicted the crop to ultimately exceed 10 MMT: SovEcon estimated it at 10.3 MMT, OilWorld at 10.9 MMT, and USDA at 10.5 MMT, excluding Crimea (a bit more than 100 KMT).
