Russian sunoil exports hit a high in March 2016/17

The current 2016/17 season continues witnessing records in Russia’s sunoil market. As a reminder, trade relations between Russia and Turkey were complicated by a stop put to duty-free sunoil trade in mid-March.

UkrAgroConsult has already covered later March developments and near-term outlook for the two countries’ relationship. Nonetheless, monthly sunoil exports from Russia reached a record 245.3 KMT in March 2016/17, or more than doubled from February (121 KMT). Overall, its exports totaled 1142.5 KMT in September - March, or 41% more than at the same time last season, when 812.4 KMT of sunoil was supplied to foreign markets.

Meanwhile, Turkey remains the leader among importers of Russian sunoil (35% of total exports or 404 KMT). Moreover, it purchased much more in March 2017 than in the previous two months. In addition, other top importers also stepped up purchases this season: Egypt by 16% to 185 KMT and Iran by 10% to 414 KMT.

Further prospects of the Black Sea oilseeds/vegoils market will be discussed at the V International Conference “Black Sea Oil Trade”, which will take place on September 19, 2017 in Hilton hotel, Kiev, Ukraine.
