Saudi Arabia increased imports of Romanian barley by 67% in July 2016

In the first month of 2016/17 MY Romanian barley exports were rather disappointing, totaling 400 KMT against 540 KMT in July 2015/16, informs UkrAgroConsult. Peak of July barley exports was observed in 2014/15, totaling 588 KMT.

According to Romanian market operators, the reason for lower barley export pace, compared to the previous two seasons, is weaker demand from the key world barley importers at the start of the season. Thus, Jordan, Libya, Japan decreased purchses in July compared to the same period of last year. UAE did not import Romanian barley in July 2016.

Though, higher demand was observed from Saudi Arabia, which purchased 293.5 KMT of barley, that is 67% more than the volume imported in the first month of 2015/16 (176 KMT).
