South Korea becomes a buyer of Romanian corn in June

According to port data, in June Romania exported 109.8 KMT of corn, which was 107% more than in the same month of 2017 (53 KMT). Key buyers of the month were Spain – 75.8 KMT and South Korea – 28 KMT.

Thus, Romanian corn exports via ports in September-June 2017/18 were up 41% year-on-year at 3204 KMT. Thus, UkrAgroConsult has raised its estimate for this season’s corn exports from Romania to 4.45 MMT (up 100 KMT from the previous forecast).

A weakening euro along with a seasonal decline in supplies from Brazil enabled Romania to boost corn exports in March-June. Apart from Iran’s return to the ranks of importers, South Korea also became a buyer of Romanian corn in June. Same as Iran, the country had met its needs mostly with the Brazilian product before.
