South Korea has set a goal to boost trade with Russia to $30 billion by the year 2020, South Korean Ambassador to Russia Woo Yoon-keun said in his first interview with Russian media in this capacity.

"We are setting an aim to increase trade between our countries to $30 billion in 2020, that will mark 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Korea and Russia," the ambassador said.

The ambassador also said his country seeks to increase mutual visits by nationals of the two countries to one million people a year. "In particular, different cultural events of interest for Koreans and Russians will take place next year, during the Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang, the FIFA World Cup in Russia and Inoforum (Media Forum). This will help increase the number of mutual visits," the senior diplomat added.
