Sugar exports from Ukraine skyrocket in Oct


Sugar exports from Ukraine skyrocketed in October 2018 from September 2018, to 58,300 tonnes, which was five times higher than in the preceding month.

"In October of the current marketing year (September 2018-August 2019), Ukrainian producers exported 58,300 tonnes of sugar, which was five times more than in the preceding month.

Major shipments went to Uzbekistan (60% of total exports) and Azerbaijan (22%). Also, Ukrainian sugar was exported to Tajikistan (5%), Armenia and Moldova (3% each). In the first two months of the 2018-2019 marketing year, 69,400 tonnes of sugar was exported, the press service said.

The Association forecasts that about 500,000-600,000 tonnes of sugar will be exported in the current marketing year, and Uzbekistan, Turkey and Azerbaijan will remain key buyers. As of November 14, Ukrainian sugar refineries processed 9.2 million tonnes of sugar beets and produced 1.2 million tonnes of sugar.
