Sunseed exports from Russia continued shrinking

The 2017/18 season features a substantial decline in sunseed deliveries from Russia, reports UkrAgroConsult.  So, Russian exports of this commodity plummeted by 62% to 7.3 KMT in December 2017 against 19.4 KMT in December 2016. This is also down 66% from 2017. Sunseed shipments abroad slumped 2.7 times to 32 KMT in September-December 2017.

Despite the substantial decrease in exports, Turkey is still the main end market for Russian sunseed. Supplies to this country totaled 19.7 KMT at the time (47.9 KMT in MY 2016/17). The second and third largest importers in the first four months of MY 2017/18 were Iran and Azerbaijan.

The range of sunseed export destinations has narrowed, too. So, the commodity was shipped to just 14 countries in MY 2017/18 against 24 in MY 2016/17.
