Thailand Government Sells 108,000 Metric Tons of Sugar at Auction

The Thai government sold 108,000 metric tons of Thai raw sugar through a tender process late Wednesday, state-run Thai Cane and Sugar Corp. said.

Sucden Asia purchased 36,000 tons of sugar of the widely traded high polarization, or Hi-pol variety, at 142 percentage points above the ICE Futures price for delivery between July 1 and Sep. 15, 2017.

Raw sugar futures for March delivery declined 0.6% to end at 23.15 cents a pound on the ICE Futures U.S. exchange on Wednesday.

Thailand is the second-largest sugar exporter after Brazil.
