April 18-19 2017, Brazil will hold the fourth meeting of the Russian-Brazilian Agrokomitet, which will discuss issues of establishing trade with our country, as well as investment and scientific-technical cooperation.

A preliminary discussion of these issues took place in the framework of negotiations of the Deputy Minister of agriculture of the Russian Federation Evgeny Gromyko and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federative Republic of Brazil to Russia, Antonio Luis Salgado Espinolas.

The parties discussed the state and prospects of Russian-Brazilian cooperation in agriculture. It is noted that the volume of mutual trade in agricultural products and foodstuffs between Russia and Brazil last year amounted to 2.2 billion dollars.

In January-February 2017 the trade turnover between our countries increased by 22.5% compared to the same period last year. However, there are still urgent issues of the Russian grain, fish and meat products, and fertilizers on the Brazilian market.

"Joint efforts are needed to rectify the continuing disparity in the mutual trade in agricultural products. To do this, we must increase the export of Russian products to Brazil, and establish investment cooperation in the agricultural sector", - said at the meeting Evgeny Gromyko.

Following the talks, the sides confirmed the readiness to discuss these and other issues during the meeting of the Russian-Brazilian Agrokomitet.

We will remind, in early February, the theme of increasing the range of products supplied to the markets of both countries were discussed at the meeting of Yevgeny Gromyko, Deputy Minister of agriculture, livestock and supply of Brazil Aumara Novaky. Then the Brazilian side expressed interest in importing Russian wheat on the market.
