The Rosselkhoznadzor has restricted the import of vegetables, flowers and fruits from Abkhazia


The Rosselkhoznadzor imposed temporary restrictions on supplies from Abkhazia to Russia of vegetables, flowers, fruits, and repeatedly used containers and pallets in connection with the distribution on the territory of Abkhazia brown marble bug, reported in the Rosselkhoznadzor administration for Krasnodar Krai and Republic of Adygeya.

The decision was made on the results of monitoring, which showed a critical phytosanitary situation in Abkhazia.

"In order to prevent the spread of dangerous quarantine object in the territory of the Russian Federation and preserving the export potential of the country, the Rosselkhoznadzor considers it necessary from April 2, 2018 to impose temporary restrictions on the import into Russia from Abkhazia of all products of plant origin, including reusable containers and wood packaging material. With the exception of cardboard boxes which can be transported accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate from the country of the sender", — stated in the message Department.
According to the Sochi customs, in case of detection of prohibited agricultural products from Abkhazia this product will be sent to the Rosselkhoznadzor for further decisions.

"Modern customs technologies, the use of mobile inspection complexes to allow a few minutes without unloading the goods from the vehicle to identify the cargo. Since the introduction of restrictions on the results of control attempts of the movement of such goods it is not revealed", — have informed in a press-service of the customs.

Earlier it was reported that in the Krasnodar Krai brown marble bug was discovered in late 2017. He is a danger to 100 species of plants, including crops. Neighbouring Abkhazia brown marble bug was a real disaster, destroying last year to 50% of the harvest of hazelnuts and citrus.
