The Russian government has extended the validity of the rules for destruction of sanctioned products for 2019
The government of the Russian Federation has extended the validity of the rules for destruction of agricultural products, raw materials and food prohibited for import into Russia in the framework of counter-sanctions.

The term is extended for a year - from December 31, 2018 to December 31, 2019, reads the government decree published on the official Internet portal of legal information ("On amendments to the decree of the government of the Russian Federation of July 31, 2015 N774").

In July the validity of food embargo was extended by the decree of the President for a year, until the end of 2019.

The food embargo has been in force in Russia since August 2014 for products from the USA, EU, Australia, Norway and Canada. Since August 2015 Albania, Montenegro, Iceland, Liechtenstein have joined the list of these countries, and Ukraine have joined the anti - Russian sanctions since January 2016. First, the ban was introduced for one year. In 2015, it was extended until August 2016, then - until the end of 2017 and until the end of 2018.

Meat and meat products, milk and dairy products, fish and fish products, vegetables and fruits were under the ban. Since  November 1, 2016 the food embargo has been extended to salt. Since October 27, 2017, live pigs have been banned, with the exception of purebred breeding animals, as well as the supply of fresh, chilled or frozen food by-products of cattle, pigs, sheep, goats, horses, donkeys, mules or hinnies (with the exception of goods for the production of pharmaceutical products), pork fat and poultry fat, cattle fat, sheep or goats, animal oil. Since May 20, 2017, the ban on the supply of salt for the production of medicines and dietary supplements has been lifted.

Destruction of contraband products from countries under sanctions has taken place since August 6, 2015 in accordance with the decree of the President of the Russian Federation "On certain special economic measures used to ensure the security of the Russian Federation" (signed on July 29, 2015).

Rules for destruction of products were approved by the government. They, in particular, envisage that the products prohibited for import shall be subject to immediate seizure and destruction after registration of the act (Protocol) on the fact of seizure. The decision is to be taken by authorized officials of FCS, or Rosselkhoznadzor, Rospotrebnadzor, that discovered the violation. Destruction of products prohibited for import is carried out in any available way in compliance with the mandatory requirements provided by the legislation in the field of environmental protection.

For three years (since August 6, 2015) the Rosselkhoznadzor destroyed more than 26 thousand tons of products imported from the countries under the Russian food embargo, the service reported.
