Turkey cuts barley import duty to zero until April 1

03.01.2018

Turkey has reduced the import duty on barley to zero until April 1 under a cabinet decision published on Sunday and has reduced the tariff for importing four kinds of wheat to 45 percent from 130 percent last year.

Last year, Turkey started raising duties on commodities like barley during its local harvest season, while lowering them outside those times.

Barley, malting barley and other kinds of barley will be imported with a 35 percent duty from the beginning of the second quarter, according to the decision announced in the country’s Official Gazette on Dec. 31.

Turkey also reduced the upper limit of import duty for carcass meat to 40 percent from 100 percent in 2017, the official gazette said.
