Turkey was the key buyer of Romanian wheat in January 2017


In January 2017 Romania exported 390 KMT of wheat, which was a little lower than record volume for this month, exported in January 2016 – 395.7 KMT. Export pace was slowed down in January 2017 due to the logistical problems in the port during causes by the weather.

Key buyers of January were Turkey (83.8 KMT), Egypt (63 KMT), Jordan (47.66 KMT), UAE (33 KMT), Morocco (27.1 KMT).

Thus, since the beginning of 2016/17 (July-January) Romania exported 4926 KMT of wheat, which was two times higher than over the same period last season. Current wheat exports almost correspond record volume, which Romania shipped over the whole 2013/14 MY (5012 KMT), reports UkrAgroConsult.

In the reporting period Vietnam remained key buyer of Romanian wheat – 838 KMT against 62 KMT over July-January 2015/16. Current exports to Egypt are now ahead of last year – 789.4 KMT against 687.6 KMT.
