Turkey’s purchases of Russian sunseed hit a season-high in April

Sunseed exports from Russia grew to 47.9 KMT in April of MY 2016/17 against 36.5 KMT in March 2017 and 10.6 KMT a year ago. They hit a season high. This level was achieved owing to a rise in Turkey’s purchases of the product to 45.2 KMT (94% of April’s total exports).

Overall, Russia exported more than 202 KMT of the commodity in September-April 2016/17, i.e. five times more than in the same period last season. UkrAgroConsult estimates this season’s total export potential at least at 260 KMT.

Although the number of end markets for Russian sunseed somewhat decreased in the current 2016/17 season, its exports continue at an active pace due to expanded capacity of the key destination markets. As before, the key importer is Turkey, whose export share rose to 72%.

Further prospects of the Black Sea oilseeds/vegoils market will be discussed at the V International Conference “Black Sea Oil Trade”, which will take place on September 19, 2017 in Hilton hotel, Kiev, Ukraine.
