Turkish farmers staged a protest against the Russian ban on the import of tomatoes

Farmers ' organizations from the Turkish province of Antalya protested against Russia's decision to ban tomatoes from Turkey, Hurriyet Daily News reported.

During a press conference on 14 August, representatives of branch associations of farmers said that waiting for the opening of the Russian market before the new season and were disappointed by the negative statements of the Russian authorities on the import of Turkish vegetables.

The head of the agricultural chamber of Antalya Nazif Alp also denied allegations that Turkish tomatoes are hormones. He invited Russian inspectors to examine the contents of hormones in the Turkish tomatoes.

Later, the farmers and other participants ate a tomato in protest against restrictive measures.
