01.02.2018

Ukraine continues stepping up export supplies of corn starch. The pace of Ukrainian corn starch exports still quickened in the first four months of the current marketing year 2017/18 (September-December). Ukrainian exporters supplied more than 18.8 KMT of corn starch to foreign markets at the time, or 21% more than a year ago, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Traditionally, the leading buyers of Ukrainian corn starch included Indonesia, the European Union, Saudi Arabia and Russia. The UAE also joined the top importers this marketing year, as the country boosted purchases.

As a reminder, Ukrainian exporters shipped abroad more than 57.2 KMT of corn starch in the 2016/17 season, or almost twice as much as a year earlier (29.1 KMT was in MY 2015/16).

Noteworthy is that corn starch production in Ukraine continues to grow rapidly. Roughly 90 KMT of corn starch was produced in Ukraine in 2017, or 28% more than in 2016.
