UK readies beef exports to the Philippines


In its first foray to the Philippine market since 1996, the UK Export Certification Partnership has published the health certificate authorising shipments of British beef to the Philippines. This is valid for chilled or frozen beef from cattle of any age, born and raised in the UK, and covers carcass parts only – excluding offal and processed fats.

The Philippines and United Kingdom agreed to resume its beef trade in August following a ban of more than 20 years ago. British agriculture officials say the market which will be worth USD31.37 million in the next five years.  The Philippines applies a low tariff of 10% to all beef imports.
