UkrAgroConsult expects record high corn crop in Ukraine and lowest production in Russia

Weather factor continues to be dominant in the countries of Black Sea region. Drought hit corn crops in Russia, while rains favored the corn yield formation in Ukraine.

Since corn seeding, precipitation rates in the south of Russia have been the lowest in several years. Corn yield in the country is expected to drop to a four-year low.

Besides weather factor, due to smallest corn area during last 5 years Russia may receive 15-20% lower crop this year.

In Ukraine, in contrast to Russia, corn yield will even higher than last year. The vegetation index in the corn growing regions also indicates a rise in the amount of active biomass versus both last year and the long-term average. UkrAgroConsult forecasts corn production in Ukraine to hit a record at 28.5 MMT.
