Ukraine aggressively expanding the range of sunseed export destinations

In December 2016, Ukraine slashed sunseed exports by more than 64% against the previous month’s record: 28.7 KMT of this commodity was shipped abroad in December compared with 80.5 KMT in November, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Overall, Ukraine exported more than 171 KMT of sunseed in the four months of MY 2016/17 (September-December), or up eight times from the same period in 2015/16 (21 KMT) and still the second largest volume after the over 570 KMT exported at this time in MY 2003/04.

The range of sunseed export destinations actively expands in the current season 2016/17. Sunseed is already supplied to 46 countries. As before, Europe is the top sunseed buyer, having increased its export share to 83% from last season’s 68% (142.8 KMT against 14.3 KMT).

Turkey, having boosted sunseed imports substantially to 21.4 KMT against 1.3 KMT in September-December 2015/16, absorbs 14% of Ukrainian exports of this commodity.
