Ukraine. Barley sowing is 15% behind last year

By October 24 winter crops had been sown at 5952 Th ha, which was 81% of the forecasted area - 7374 Th ha, reports UkrAgroConsult. This included 5260 Th ha of winter wheat and triticale (85% from the planned 6198 Th ha), 148 Th ha of rye (100% of 147 Th ha), 544 Th ha of barley (53% of 1028 Th ha).

Winter grain sowing is slower than last year mainly due to delay in winter barley sowing progress. By October, 24 2015 winter barley had been sown at 637 Th ha, or 68% of the plan.

According to UkrAgroConsult, Ukrainian farmers continue to harvest grains. Corn harvesting progress remains the lowest in the last several years and is 35% behind last year.
