Ukraine. Corn harvest progress already 8% ahead of last year

As of October 18, corn was harvested from 1889 Th ha (1750 Th ha in 2016) that is 42% of its planned area of 4511 Th ha. Its crop amounted to 8584 KMT (9854 KMT) with an average yield of 4.54 MT/ha (5.63 MT/ha), informs UkrAgroConsult.

The harvest of buckwheat and millet is entering its final phase. As of October 18, buckwheat was harvested from 162 Th ha (89% of the plan) with a crop of 180 KMT and an average yield of 1.11 MT/ha. It was harvested from 144 Th ha at the same time last year, with a crop of 183 KMT and a yield of 1.27 MT/ha. Simultaneously, growers harvested millet from 54 Th ha (97%) with a 78 KMT crop and a 1.44 MT/ha average yield. In 2016, 183 KMT was harvested from 101 Th ha with a yield of 1.82 MT/ha.

In total, cereals and pulses were harvested from 11.86 Ml ha with a crop of 46.57 MMT and an average yield of 3.93 MT/ha (48.73 MMT and 4.15 MT/ha, respectively, in 2016).
