Ukraine. Corn planting caught up with last year’s pace


As of May 15, planting of spring cereals and pulses was completed on an area of 6526 Th ha (90% of the plan). This is 2.5% less than planted at the same time last year (6692 Th ha), reports UkrAgroConsult.

In particular, spring barley was sown on 1561 Th ha (95%) against 1811 Th ha in 2016, spring wheat on 171 Th ha (96%) against 165 Th ha in 2016, oats on 197 Th ha (95%) against 212 Th ha a year ago. Peas were seeded on 381 Th ha (115%) that is up 68.6% year-on-year (226 Th ha as of May 16, 2016).

Corn planting in Ukraine is 90% complete. The crop was sown on 4037 Th ha as of the reporting date against 4042 Th ha at the same time last year.
