Ukraine. Corn planting is 49% behind last year pace


As of April 27, corn was sown on 1224 Th ha (30% of its projected area) compared with 2383 Th ha at the same date last year (53% of the projected), reports UkrAgroConsult.

Early spring cereals and pulses were planted on an area of 2269 Th ha that is down 3% year-on-year (2388 Th ha).

In particular, spring barley was seeded on 1535 Th ha (94%) against 1789 Th ha in 2016 and spring wheat on 163 Th ha (92%) against 163 Th ha in 2016. Peas were seeded already on 376 Th ha (114%) that is up 67% year-on-year (225 Th ha).
