Ukraine. Eleven regions have already started spring sowing


As of March 14, early spring grains were seeded on the area of 93

Th ha or 4% of the intended area (2402 Th ha). This includes barley - 64 Th ha (4% of the plan), peas – 23 Th ha (8%), oats – 3 Th ha (2%) and wheat – 2 Th ha (1%), reports UkrAgroConsult.

Eleven regions of Ukraine have already started spring sowing. Most of spring crops has been seeded in Odesa region – 33.1 Th ha (22% of the intended area), Kherson region – 24.5 Th ha (19%), Mykolaiv region – 13.2 Th ha (12%) and Donetsk region – 12.2 Th ha (9%).

It should be noted, that by the same date last year early spring grain crops and legumes had been sown at 320 Th ha. Though, in 2016 sowing started not during March 1-10, but in the last ten days of February.

This week UkrAgroConsult expects the sowing works to gain pace. Moreover, massive spring grain crops sowing campaign should start nationwide.
